Bleaching won’t damage teeth
Bleaching teeth with over-the-counter products is damaging because
bleaching products are extremely acidic. While these products take
away stains, they leave teeth porous and more easily stained.
Using xylitol whitens teeth and protects them from future staining
by filling the holes in enamel with healthy minerals. Once holes are
filled, the naturally yellow inside part of the tooth will not show
through the enamel, so teeth will appear whiter.
The best time to eat xylitol is after eating or drinking something
acidic because it will fill in the holes in tooth enamel before the
acid has a chance to damage it. Tooth enamel is the color of glass,
meaning it has no color. The “color” is the under part (dentin)
reflected through this glass enamel. Differences in color are caused
by variations in the way the light reflects off the glass surface.
The smoother the surface, the brighter the tooth will look. The
stronger the "glass" enamel, the more sparkle it will have.
