 Who's at Risk

From the infant stage to the golden age, everyone’s vulnerable to dental disease
Everyone is at risk for dental disease, some more than others. Certain groups are more susceptible because of specific conditions known as risk factors. The more you’re at risk, the more you will benefit from xylitol and oral care procedures that stimulate the natural healing of teeth.

Contact with Children

Parents, grandparents, day care workers, babysitters, and siblings can easily spread harmful mouth bacteria to one another through kisses, sharing utensils, or unsanitary habits. It is important to wash hands before handling an infant and limit the amount of contact with another person’s mouth. Xylitol can be used to loosen harmful mouth bacteria and increase salivary flow so the bacteria are washed away.

Healthcare professionals are at risk for spreading dental disease from one patient to another unless safety procedures are followed. It is always acceptable to remind them to sanitize their hands prior to an examination.
